Tarsier and a promise
“The history of Exquisite Photography”

It all started with the Tarsier. Ed Cañuto was formerly a Senior Software Engineer for a multination consultancy firm Accenture. The firm had a photo contest across its worldwide offices. Ed submitted his Tarsier snap shot taken during his Christmas vacation in Bohol in the contest’s portrait category. The photo eventually won the Grand Prize in the portrait category, besting more than 2000 entries. Ed was awarded with a 5.2 MP Panasonic Lumix camera as the grand prize.

What started out as a hobby, Ed Cañuto stepped up his abilities by investing in photography classes to improve his craft. He attended the Basic Photography class of Jo Avila, basic studio lighting by Jay Alonso, Post processing technique workshop by Manny Librodo, and Studio Lighting and Portraiture by Ibarra Deri. He also joined photo clubs and photographer’s forums in the internet to be updated with the latest trends in the industry. He also devoted his time and effort by assisting big men in the industry like Manny Librodo, an internationally renowned portrait photographer. He volunteered his services as assistant in Blessing photography owned by Ruel Villaluna which covers weddings, debuts, corporate events, school photography and portraits. Ed eventually became a backup photographer for Blessing Photography after 3 months of apprenticeship experiencing various photo coverage. The mentorship of Ruel Villaluna actually prepared him for his future business endeavor into the field of photography.

A Promise, Ed gave to his wife, Libya, was to eventually settle down in Bohol in due time. Wanting to fulfill a promise, Ed contemplated on how to earn a living in Bohol. With Ed’s exposure to the photography industry, his skills gained from experiencing various types of coverage, plus his ability to do post processing as a computer expert, this perfect combination of skills and ability was the turning point for Ed to decide to offer a studio facility and photo coverage business in Tagbilaran City. With this in mind, Ed packed his stuff, fulfilled a promise and organized Exquisite Photography.
